Grateful to have the gift of meeting one of my first mentors along my healing journey, @gabormatemd 🙏🏻 I read his book “When the Body Says No” when I was 22, in the throws of healing a mysterious illness. His evidence based way of explaining what my intuition already told me about the mind-body connection helped my western mind settle into the idea that the healing I sought would only happen on a psycho-emotional level. Reflecting on the past 7 years since I read his book, I am so grateful for all I’ve learned and experienced along this path 💗
When a woman offers the truth about her struggle to wake up, to grow beyond old models of womanhood and old spirituality that no longer sustain, when she expresses what it was really like to discover and relate to the Feminine Divine, to heal feminine wounds, to unearth courage, and to reclaim her power, then woman’s differences tend to give way to something more universal. Often in such stories we find a deep sameness beneath our dissimilarities. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We find we are all women and down deep we ache for what has been lost to us. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We want to tell the truth about our lives, to see the truth through other women’s lives. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We want to trust a Feminine Source of wisdom. We long for the whole, empowered woman who wants to be born in us. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ @suemonkkidd “Dance of the Dissident Daughter”
A wise woman once told me that poetry is the feminine form of language. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My heart leapt when she spoke those words, an ancient knowing stirring within my being.. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For nearly two years I’ve known poetry was to be a part of my path. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve also known that to open fully to the mystery of the Feminine I would have to lay to rest all that I know, all that I believe to be true. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After all, it is a requirement to receiving the magic of the unknown ✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve struggled. I’ve resisted. I’ve bargained. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve attempted to work my way around the codes of my own evolution, and now, I am tired. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I am done fighting. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After years of trying to do it my way, I am finally ready to let my heart lead. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve discovered while walking this path of the heart that one cannot force their heart to open. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s easy to assume that we are in control of this process— that if we just meditate more, drink more medicine, or work with another healer we will finally achieve the state of living with an open heart. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Alas, an open heart cannot be achieved, only received. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m remembering again that the heart dances to its own beat, one that we must learn to follow instead of continuing our attempts to lead. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In Her own timing, in Her own rhythm, She subtly finds her way to what supports Her own blossoming. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Slow down and you will hear the whisper of her gentle invitation: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Let go. Soften. Surrender. Allow me to show you the way.”
Embodiment PSA: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉🏻 THINKING ABOUT your body ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉🏻 NOTICING your body ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉🏻 AWARENESS THROUGH your body ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ These are all very different experiences, each with very different results based on how you move through the world. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Imagine what is possible when your awareness moves beyond the limitations of the mind and expands into the deeper awareness of the BODYMIND. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What you create from there is beyond words, logic, practicality, or reason. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s the same force that has birds know when it’s time to fly south. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Or when a flower knows it’s time to bloom 🌸 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s you, fully expressed in your truest nature. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s your core essence brought to life 🔥 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #SomaticSoulPlay
